CHIROPRACTOR | CHIROPRACTIC FAQs

What education do chiropractors have?

Chiropractors require a minimum of 3 years of university schooling before attending Chiropractic College. The Chiropractic program is an additional 4 years resulting in the Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

What can I expect from my first chiropractic visit?

On your first visit you will complete intake forms, and Dr. Zerkee will discuss your health with you and complete an examination. Afterwards he will discuss with you what the diagnosis is, and what is the best course of action. If chiropractic treatment is recommended, then with your consent you will proceed with treatment. If other action is required, Dr. Zerkee will discuss that with you.

Does MSP cover chiropractic?

For most of us, No. MSP will provide partial coverage for 10 visits in a calendar year for those of you who are considered lower income. There is still a co-payment though. If you qualify for the assistance, any combination of chiropractic, registered massage therapy, acupuncture, physiotherapy, naturopathy, or non-surgical podiatry will count towards your visit count.

Do I need a doctor’s referral for chiropractic?

No, you do not need a doctor’s referral to see a chiropractor.  MSP, ICBC, WCB, and extended health plans do not require a referral to provide coverage for chiropractic treatment.

Does my extended health cover chiropractic?

In most cases yes, depending on your plan. We will provide you with a receipt of payment after your visit that you can submit to your extended health plan.

Does ICBC pay for chiropractic treatment?

Yes. We will need your claim number and your adjustor’s contact information.  Dr. Zerkee has agreed to be a part of the pilot program that has ICBC cover 100% of the cost of your chiropractic treatments.

Does WCB pay for chiropractic treatment?

Yes.  We will need your claim number and your adjustor’s contact information.  WCB will pay 100% of the costs of chiropractic treatment for your claim.

Do I need x-rays before I see a chiropractor?

No. Some chiropractic techniques do require x-rays, or the chiropractor will take them as part of the evaluation. In most cases Dr. Zerkee does not require x-rays to be taken, but he will recommend them if he thinks they are necessary.

Should children see a chiropractor?

Yes. Chiropractic is a safe and effective treatment for people of all ages.

Once I see a chiropractor do I have to keep coming back?

No. Ultimately it is up to you the patient whether you come back for further treatment or not. Chiropractic can be a solution to a present ailment, or it can become a part of a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Zerkee will provide his recommendations, but it really is up to you.
